02A Working with Triads KB Improvisation Bk1

This chapters lists different kinds of keyboard spacings/voicings, as well as progressions descending by step or down a 4th or a 5th.  Using the chorus, Give Thanks, practice its progressions that descend by step or descend a 4th or a 5th. Added second chords and drop 2 voicings are also mentioned briefly.

  1. I think this link is to the wrong chapter. When I try to download I get 2B not 2A.

  2. This is listed as 02A Working with Triads but it is actually 2B Working with Major and Minor Sevenths. Can you tell me how to get 02A?

    • Lisa, sorry about the delay on the fix. When I looked a long while back I couldn’t see a problem. I thought you were referring to a different book. The fix is done 5/16/13.

  3. I am so incredibly happy to find this website! I received a Bachelor’s degree in worship ministry several years ago from a Bible college in Illinois and just pulled out Barry’s book, “The New Worship,” today to do some research on how to help a piano student of mine understand improvisation for worship. This is the absolute perfect book for her and I plan to put it to good use! However, as I was looking through the content, I noticed that this particular PDF file (which should be “Chapter 2A: Working With Triads”) is actually for “Chapter 2B: Working With Major & Minor Sevenths.” Would it be possible to get Chapter 2A? I would really appreciate it!

Again, praise God for all you are doing! If I would have known this was all available on your website, I would be a lot further along than I am currently in my own playing abilities! I thank God for your work!

    • Good Sarah. Use to your heart’s content. Nothing would make me happier.

      • One more thing (and so sorry to keep bothering you!)…I noticed that chapter 1 is listed as “Understanding Chord Symbols,” but I haven’t seen a chapter by that name posted. The chapter 1 that has been posted is the introduction to this book. I just wondered if that was another one that hadn’t been posted? Thanks so much!

        • I checked. You are correct. The material was OK, but the title was wrong. Fixed 5-29-2013. There is a chord catalogue in Appendix 3.
If you want help in “Understanding Chords” see chapter 1 of Theory Book 1. You’ll find quite of bit of help.

You should get a medal for finding my mistakes. My students find them too. They read examples where I’ve left off an accidental, etc. Since I know what I want, often I don’t see the mistake.

          Anyway, THANK YOU, Sarah!

    • Sarah, Keyboard Book, chapter 2a is now fixed. And thank you for the nice words of appreciation.

      • You’re quite welcome, Barry! I’m still so very excited to dig into these resources! Thanks again for all you’re doing! 🙂

  4. Hello,

I would like to buy the complete books: “The jazz worship keyboardist” and “The new worship keyboardist”..
    Where to buy?

    Thanks!

    Giuseppe

    • Giuseppe,
Sorry for the very late reply.
I’m not producing paper copies (except for my students)
You are welcome to download and print your own copies.

The Jazz Worship Keyboardist? Yes, I have a book on that,
but I don’t have time to upload it to the site presently.
It deals with a lot of harmonic extensions (lowered 9th, 13th, raised 9th, etc).

      Maybe next summer.
